Ride To Give hasn't added a story.
There was a tragic fire at 3 Waldron Ave on the morning of Tuesday October 13, 2015 in the village of Central Nyack. Over 55 volunteer fire fighters from surrounding Nyack and Valley Cottage fire companies fought the blase. Sadly, Nyack resident Jarnali Kaur died in the blaze and many families have been displaced. The Red Cross is working to temporarily re-locate the families, some of whom have infants and school aged children. Unfortunately, most families lost everything.
The Red Cross can not take donations specifically for any individual tragedy however a local church that is attended by many of the displaced families has offered to accept clothing and other household donations. The Reverend Raymond Castro of the Iglesia La Mision Church, 11 Division Ave in Nyack, will accept donations of clothing, household items, electronics and other things that Nyack residents want to donate. There will be a collection box in Nyack Village Hall. What is needed are gently used clothing particularly for the children(a four month old infant(boy), a six month old baby(boy), a first grader(boy), a fourth grader(girl), and an eleventh grader(boy) will be so welcome.
These children attend Nyack District schools and are our children's classmates and friends. The funds Ride to Give collects will be split among the families to help with food and other necessities as well as helping with relocation costs.
"One of the greatest things about our Village is how we all join together to help each other during dark times. This is one of them." Nyack Mayor, Jen Laird White
At this time, investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
