**Flash Fundraiser in support of #SavingSuperNova**

On September 18th, 2019, almost 7-year-old #SavingSuperNova, of Chicago Illinois, will undergo a 5th brain surgery, a full shunt replacement. Nova's mother, Ash Luna, knew this day would come, however never dreamed it would it come so soon. Ash is being as strong as can be for Nova, but the reality is that this is not the best time for their family financially.  As a self employed professional photographer,  the thought of a possible long hospital stay for Nova means Ash will have to take time off from work they just can't afford right now.

When Ride to Give heard about Nova's emergency surgery we knew we had to help.  The funds we raise for #SavingSuperNova will help support this sweet family while they take the time they need to support Nova's healing.  Ash made the post below on Nova's Facebook page and we will share an update on Nova's surgery as soon as we have one.

"Oh, Nova.

This beautiful human has been doing some silly things lately and as parents of a complex kiddo we are forced to follow our guts and start running down the medical checklist of what could be happening alongside digging into our more typical arsenal of raising kids stuff.

And so I call our specialists, and make appointments we hope will tick boxes, so we can move onto the other things. But sometimes that’s just not in the cards.

After a long night of MRI and shunt survey xrays, and a long morning meeting with our neurosurgeon we are scheduled for a full shunt replacement / revision first case tomorrow morning.

Because all of Nova’s gear, including calcified shunt tubing, needs to come out of their brain, chest, and abdomen we’re looking at a more involved procedure than ever before. We are literally in the best hands. And Nova is excited, because Nova.

Simultaneously, we are navigating our first go of hospital/surgery/inpatient dancings with a baby in the mix and me as our only provider. A perfect storm in which I wish we existed in a world where we had family to help and money was not an ever present concern.

And still, our world will stop as it does when this human requires it. This time though through uncharted waters filled with stressors and uncertainties new to even our well traveled circus.

If that’s not enough - as luck, fate, kismet, cosmic bull****  would have it this happens to have exactly coincided with the anniversary of our TTTS diagnosis, surgery, and Aurora’s death. This week is one for the universe and to say I have all of the feelings would barely scratch the surface.

And so, we are oh so graciously accepting all the good thoughts and feelings you’re willing to send our way. "
